School Implementation

Supporting students with Connect Quest

Connect Quest is a student-informed toolkit and campaign for Grades 4-8 that turns addictions prevention literacy about substance use health and balanced device use into hands-on, choose-your-own-adventure learning.

Built from student input, it sparks curiosity, matches real interests, and provides accurate, stigma-free information to support open conversations about substance use health and balanced device use. “Connect” highlights the protective power of relationships—with oneself, peers, family, caregivers, school, and the land—while “Quest” captures fun, active exploration and choice.

This guide provides a quick, practical tour of Connect Quest—what it is, how it works, and why it was created—plus, what students want you to know and why connection matters. You’ll also get clear, ready-to-use tips to kickstart implementation, including where to begin and how to facilitate and support activities confidently.

Connect Quest activities help students in grades 4-8 deepen their self-understanding, strengthen connections, and build skills and confidence. With these foundations, they’re better equipped to make thoughtful choices about substance use and device use. The activities are meant to be fun, engaging and, at times, challenging while sparking interest in further exploration, for those who are ready to dig into deeper issues.

The implementation map below provides an overview of the activities, including a brief content summary and tips to help adult allies support student leaders in their Quest.
