Nature Alphabet

Looking for items in nature and learning their names is fun! It also helps build awareness of the insects, plants, animals and other life forms in the world.

This activity helps you explore your connection to the environment as you get to know more about the nature around you – one letter at a time!

What you’ll do:

• Work together as a class or group to complete a nature alphabet.
• Spend time outside finding plants, insects, animals, and other items that start with each letter of the alphabet (e.g., “L” for leaf).Track the items found by drawing a picture.
• Display the art in a nature alphabet in your classroom.

Tips:

• Invite other classes to join in or make it a school-wide activity.
• Make this a month-long activity by picking a few letters to find each week.
• Encourage students to explore during recess or at home to add to the collection.
