Device Challenge

Video games, phones, and social media can be great ways to connect with others. We can learn new things and share videos that make us laugh. But if the only way you’re connecting with people is through screens, or if using them makes you feel worse instead of better, you might need more balance. Checking in with yourself is a good first step.

This activity helps you notice how you use your devices, reflect on how it makes you feel, and explore ways to find balance between online and offline time.

What you’ll do:

  • Track your device use for a few days.
  • Then, reflect on how it affects you, and explore new ways to make your screen time more manageable, meaningful, and mindful – the 3 Ms of balanced device use (learn more at MediaSmarts).

Tips:

  • Be honest when tracking your device use – there’s no “wrong” answer.
